KOFA again yesterday

Today I wrote my blog then I erased it before I posted it…………grrrrrrrrrrrr   so here I am writing it again.

Yesterday was a COLD windy day. The wind went right down to your bones. We used it as a good excuse to take off in the Jeep again for the day.  I had seen on the map a place at the edge of KOFA refuge that said “Stone Cabin” so thinking it would be cool to see another stone cabin off we went.  SURPRISE!  It was an adobe store and gift shop.

We decided we would go up to Palm Canyon. The only place in Arizona that palm trees grow naturally. What a beautiful drive in. We met this car load of teenagers in another Jeep who waved and yelled out the window “JJEEEEEEEEEEEP” I don’t know how many kids were in there but there were heads everywhere. I have found that if you are on a back road all the other Jeeps wave at you like you are friends and it is fun.  Then we met a brand new Jeep Rubicon barreling down the 4x4 road through the washes like it was on the pavement. It scared the tar out of me because when they got close there was a teenager boy on each running board hanging on for dear life and laughing. They just don’t realize the danger. I was so afraid they were going to fall. They all waved like the others do and grinning still continued to barrel down the road.  We got to Palm canyon and was disappointed. We were not disappointed with the drive in or with the rock mountain when we arrived.

We then were up to some other mountains right to their base where the mountain sheep are suppose to hang out. We did not see any but the rocks were great. They had like faces carved in them. Holes where you could use for toe holes to go to the top. We saw cactus that were different then anywhere else we have been.

Each day I drive the Jeep I am more and more amazed at how well it does and how smooth it is. It doesn’t even throw my mom or little Paco around and it will just crawl over the rough spots and down through the draws without putting it in 4x4. I love this Jeep better then any vehicle I have ever had.  We have our sleeping bags, case of water, food, camera stuff everywhere, 4 dogs and mom and me and still have lots of room left. The dogs love all the windows, clear across the back and both sides are windows. Hank jumps right in, Yo-Yo jumps but needs a small push at the last but he will make it eventually, he gets better every day. Freckles puts his feet up on the bumper to be helped in. The bumper is made out of that plastic stuff and is not paint to scratch. They have taken to that Jeep like ducks to water.

Lots of pictures today so I hope you enjoy them. I decided it was easier to go to the web page I have some pictures posted on and then only post some that aren’t on the web. The Arizona gallery has some of the unusual cactus and some landscape photos. Enjoy
