Yesterday my friends relative came down and introduced herself, now I have a new friend and she lives in Salome.
Went for a drive last night and looked at Christmas lights. They don't have a lot here but it was still fun. I did get a cute picture of a cactus with a Santa hat and eyes.
I got my book from Barnes and Noble for Free Friday book and it was everything you wanted to know about Christmas on my nook. That is a really interesting book and so much I did not know about how traditions came about. I did not know that in some periods Christmas was illegal. The Germans had a lot to do with our Christmas traditions but I did not realize that the bunch that came from England were during the Victorian age when the queen married a German. I will be spending some time today reading it. I read a lot of it to my mom last night and she was surprised to. Like when the Pilgrims came the Native Americans were already having a winter feast celebration and that a North Dakota Tribes when they were found were already hanging presents on trees for people to get. Some of the old traditions were a lot of fun and I think we need them back. One of them they took small presents and put them in a big bowl of rice and everyone got a spoon and as they dipped the rice out they kept whatever they found. Sounds like fun for small kids. I will have to post some more stuff as I find it if anyone is interested.
Its Christmas Eve...it is beautiful out, was nice and sunny and warm for the dogs early morning walk and NO WIND! I hope it stays gone all night. It was so nice sleeping last night without all the noise.
We tried to make Snickerdoodles last night and had no cream of tarter. No powdered sugar for tea cakes, no corn syrup, not enough butter, not enough oatmeal, could not find one recipe for candy or cookies that we had all of it so my butt and waist line say "thanks bunches". Guess I have to go back to the store today..lol
Have a great day!
