New Years Eve 2011

What are your plans for the last day of 2011?  Mine are easy, clean, cook and sleep...lol  It dawned sunny and bright again today. It is suppose to be in the 70's all week long.

Mom said she is a little stiff and sore from all the 4x4 roads yesterday but she said she still can't believe how good that Jeep rides. She said if she spent that much time in even the Subaru on good roads she would be sore. We are still so happy with the Jeep.  Some of the roads I thought I might have to put it in 4wheel due to, would you believe big mud puddles. I am not sure where the mud came from unless it had rained in that area and it just held it but one little valley was wet all over and lots of grass. We actually even saw some cows and horses.

It has been warm enough at night the heater does not even kick in until around 6 am when the sun is coming up.

My daughter sent me some wonderful pictures of her and her family and the two boys girlfriends at the lights parade in Portland. I just love them. Talk about a good looking family, from dad and mom right down to the boys and their gals. I so wish I would have been there to met those girls though.

Only going on a short excursion today and I have to find someplace to fix motor home tires as my right back dually tire is going flat...BLAST!  Don't know what happened but must have picked up a nail or something to cause a slow leak. I thought it looked a little low yesterday so I checked today.

Have a wonderful New Years Eve!  Make it safe!  Don't drink and drive and don't let friends and family drink and drive!

Looking out my back door. Not really I was sitting on the couch and the front seat of the motor home.

My mom and her dead cactus cane she made, she had forgot her cane and some pretty flowers that were blooming everywhere. This was on our way back, we went on a 4x4 road all the way to Hwy 93 out of Wickenburg. Long day but lots of fun, we are tired and glad to be home again

Black Eagle Mountain, Isn't it cool, looks like a bird pecking on something

I love this mountain and I took pictures from every angle we were at

Funny Cactus, the cactus today were just huge, they must get good water.

Harqua Hala Ghost Town

We drove out Harquahala Road for a drive and it was one of the most interesting drives so far. I want to go back and find the Smithsonian Observatory and see what it is like. It looks just like a little square cement building in the pictures but I want to see what is cool about it, maybe the stars look really neat as there is not a lot of lights in this country.

We found this little Cemetery, the only marking was three caution type signs by it. It has been well maintained by someone, the rocks are in order and flowers and decorations.  When I got home I searched on the internet and found it and pictures of it.

It was from the mining town of Harqua Hala started in the 1760's. The Pima Indians ran everyone off but they returned in 1863. The town had around 500-600 people that lived there year around. The town had a stage line, a newspaper and other businesses.  The graveyard is listed in the pioneer graveyards and they have 50 known graves and think there are more. The ones they know about are 40 adults, 5 boys ages 2 thru 5 and 2 females one 4, one 10.

The mine had trouble with thieves stealing their gold shipments so they decided to make a 400 lb nugget where it was so big no one could haul it off easily.  They put the huge nugget in a covered freight wagon and headed to town. The weight of the nugget caused the floor of the wagon to come undone and when they arrived they had no nugget and no floor. The returned and found the nugget at the bottom on a canyon and it took weeks to get it out. It does not say how they did it, I don't know if they melted it down or what but it took a long time and they never shipped that way again.

The mine closed in 1907. We did not go closer as we did not know if it was an active mine. They have one area fenced off. The next trip we are going to drive up closer to it.

I thought this was so interesting!!

Today we go to Alamo Lake and see what we can find. I love the little church I found and I love the ghost town. It is funny cause if someone told you it was there it probably would not have been as much fun to find it...

Have a great day and enjoy the pictures. Be safe and God Bless

fun day on Harquahola Road

We went back to the little church today to show my mom and we signed the register along with someone from I think every state in the union. I know Hawaii and Alaska was there. In fact several from Alaska. Also from Australia, Norway, England, New Zeeland and several other countries. It is for sale along with 3 acres. I would hate for it to close. They did not list a price.

After we went to the little church and down to the library we headed up Harquahola road. What an interesting place to go. One of my favorite trips we have taken. I will try to post some photos tomorrow morning as I already posted all of the ones of the little church today.

Have a great evening and be safe

The inside of the little church, what a great little place and I was right about the same size inside as my white pickup. It is for sale along with 3 acres but it doesn't list a price. I would hate for it to close.

The sides of the church inside. A book to sign, people from every state I swear have signed plus Norway, Australia, New Zeland and England

Stained glass windows, 3 on each side

Here are the 6 little stained glass windows in the little chapel.

My Paco is sick

Little Paco woke up sick this morning. He threw up and would not eat breakfast. He finally ate a little and seems to be doing better. I think he has garbageitis from eating anything and everything. He is better then a vacuum, he finds anything on the floor. I love it when he finds something of moms and he knows she will get him and he takes off running with it and her in hot pursuit, well in elderly pursuit and he dodges around. If I yell he stops, when she yells he just goes faster, it really is funny if  you saw it. Luckily the RV is not very big and she wins. For some reason he loves paper and especially paper towels. She uses them for painting and that makes it even better and if she drops it he has it almost immediately.

The sun is shinning and I am wishing I was still sleeping. For some reason this am I just want to sleep in but dogs had to go outside.

My shoulder is better but still sore, going to try and take it easy. I think I will go for a drive and maybe a walk. The dogs and me walked around the block last night after dark and it was still nice. Hardly any street lights here and the stars were so bright. You might be in a sub division but with no street lights and everyone goes to bed early it was like walking in the desert. I love watching the stars. Sure seems like they are in a different position then in Oregon though.

Well off to start my day, hopefully have some pictures tonight. Be safe everyone!  Give your loved ones hugs as you never know when it will be the last. Be nice to someone, you might make their day.

I hate red tape!!!!!

This red tape of State agencies is driving me insane. I am trying to get my Jeep registered in Oregon and it is a )#&*)$%*&).  I finally found the correct form after the state officer left and it is not the form that DMV told me I needed to fill out.  Good grief, I am just trying to be honest, not trying to rip anyone off. By the time I get this all figured out I am going to have a late fee....#)*)#%*)#%*.

But it still has been a good day because I am healthy and my family is healthy. Well I am getting old, my shoulder is KILLING me. I turned over wrong last night and OUCH it hurt again. I am trying to rest it but I have things to do.

It has been a good day because I found old friends on facebook...YIPEE, I love getting in touch with people I don't see anymore.

Ok I am done whining around for a few minutes anyway. Thank God for this blog, I can yell on her and mom and the dogs like that a whole lot better then me being cranky with them...hehe

Trees are pistachios

My friend that lives down here says the trees I posted the pictures of are pistachios.

Another sunny morning in Arizona. I turned over last night and as I was turning I shoved with my left arm and I am not sure what I did but the pain was terrible and it still hurts this morning. Same shoulder I screwed up the other day. I think I need to  let it heal longer before using it. I was only trying to turn over for goodness sake.

My daughter loves the little church. I think she should buy it and become a preacher. She would be good at it. Anyone want to buy it for her since she doesn't have any money...hehe

The dogs slept in and I finally had to get them up because one of them had to go outside and I wasn't going twice. They went out, ate and are now back asleep.

Off to find the garbage dump today, my friend gave me directions so hopefully I can find it. Not sure where I am going driving today or I might come home and paint with mom. Time will tell.

Have a great day and see you this evening
